This page is to tell you a little about myself and my family, because let’s face it, I write about them all the time and you should know who we are! This is my life, this is my family!

This would be me

Deanna Layman. That’s me. Just a little background about myself. I married my high school sweetheart in 2005. What an amazing journey it has been! It is hard to believe the stages of life that we have been through together, I mean he has known me since I was 17 and loves me more today than ever, despite my silly and clumsy nature! Wow, that is amazing! I am the youngest of two kids in my family, and the only daughter, so yes I did get my way on occasion as every little girl tends to. We moved around so much growing up that I found each new place a fun and exciting adventure. After graduating high school and marrying Chase we moved to Edmond, OK to attend Oklahoma Christian University. We went all through college married, yup we even had a few classes together. It was a blast! (Except that I am pretty competitive so I always wanted to make the better grades, lol!) After four years of marriage we decided it was time to start a family. Little did we know that it would take some time for me to get pregnant, God’s timing is always a little different. We finally got pregnant and had our first child, Eli in November 2010. Not long after Eli was born I started having some odd symptoms that we couldn’t pin-point why or what was causing them. After months of doctors visits, blood tests and waiting I was diagnosed with Lupus in April of 2012. This is a battle that will be on going and life changing. Some days are tough and others are a breeze. But, I know that more than anything it is a part of God’s plan and calling for my life, to encourage and inspire a community of people through creative writing. I am here to tell my story, for we all have a story to tell!

My husband Chase

Chase Layman. This would be my awesome husband! He met me during his senior year of high school during what is called “big night out.” For those that don’t know what this is, it is an outing organized by his youth group for those not attending prom. After that night he hunted my phone number down from my friend and a week later we went on our first date. The next year he was busy traveling every weekend back and forth from college to visit me, the rest is history! After college Chase started working for LifeChurch as a video producer and was there for four years. This summer he has embarked on an amazing journey, he resigned from the church and has started three businesses with some great business partners, Wheelhouse, Kids News Digital and Mission Rocket. The Lord is providing and blessing each one everyday! His drive, passion and dedication is truly inspiring! He loves movies, playing strategy games, laid back, creative, passionate and loving. I am so blessed to call this man my husband!

My little Eli

Eli Layman. This little cutie is my son. Born in November 2010 and a true blessing! Everyone says that he looks just like my husband, there is no denying that! I mean look at the resemblance! But, he looks just like I did as a baby. He might look like my husband but there is no denying that he acts like me! He has my stubborn streak for sure, when he decides he doesn’t want to do something he will surely let you know. But, he is smart, curious, musical, loving and filled with joy. His laughter is absolutely contagious. He loves his dogs, Lucy and Stella, that is the first thing he wants to do when we get home is go find them and give them a big hug. Grove-y (Grover from Sesame Street) and Wiki (a Star Wars Ewok) and thumb are his “security blankets.” Currently Yo Gabba Gabba and Phineas and Ferb are his two favorite shows. There is no denying that this little pumpkin is growing up so fast!

Lucy. This would be our Siberian Husky that we have had for four years, she was my birthday present. She is sweet, loving, loyal, a food hog (just ask Stella) and sheds like crazy! (I feel like I am always sweeping up after her!) Her eyes tell her emotions. We decided we wanted a dog and landed on the Husky breed. After finding a breeder Chase let me pick out which one I wanted, I fell in love with Lucy from the beginning!

Stella. We joke and say that she is our “Craigslist” dog. We wanted to find Lucy a friend and decided on the name Stella. Low and behold their was an ad that said “help Stella find a new home.” Crazy! We went to see her and knew she was perfect for our Lucy. She is super loyal (in fact she follows me around everywhere!), loving (she tends to put her paw on you if you stop petting her) and a loud sleeper (she dreams almost every night). They are the perfect duo!
