Archives For Love

“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.” 1 Peter 3:8 (NIV)

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:15 (NIV)

Todays worship song is Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath. I love this song! I know that I have found myself praying something similar to the message of this song, compassion. I have prayed for more opportunities to show love and compassion to those in need, to notice the need when it is there. With how busy our lives get it can be easy to have our own little bubble and forget about the outside world, forget about the needs of others. I truly want to change this! Today lets look for the people who cross our paths that we can show His love to!

Give Me Your Eyes by Brandon Heath

Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black tile
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
Are those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the once forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
yeah .. yeah .. yeah .. yeah

Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide whats underneath
There’s a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
To ashamed to tell his wife
He’s out of work
He’s buying time
Are those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?

Chorus

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

“Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14 (NIV)

Just last month I started going to a women’s Bible study about marriage where we are using the book Loving Your Husband by Patsy Loden. The amazing thing about going to this study and reading the book is that of course all of it is meant to apply towards your marriage and your relationship with your husband, but, its much more than that. Many of the points in the book can be applied to all of our relationships. For example, the words we use will either build up our husband or tear him down. The same goes with the words we use with our friends, children and family. What we say to them will uplift them and encourage them or it will tear them down and discourage them. I know for myself that I do not want to be a mother that discourages her children. What kind of message do we send to our family if the words we say are negative and harsh? It is not a message of love that’s for sure. I know that this is not always an easy task. There are times when those that I love are doing something that I just think is crazy and I want to give my opinion, but… it kind of goes back to the old saying “it’s not what you say, but how you say it.” Will the words that come out of my mouth show this person how much I love them? Sure what I am about to tell them is because I love them… (I know we have all thought that). But, there has to be a more loving way to say what is on our mind! I want my children to be raised in a home that is positive, encouraging, uplifting and supportive, a house that is full of love. So one important part about that is making sure that the words I say do not tear up the home that I want. I know that I am not the only one who has spoken way before thinking about it. So, today I am making a goal… the words that come out of my mouth will reflect the love behind them.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” Isaiah 43:25 (NIV)

I have no idea what you have gone through in your life to bring you to where you are today. We each have different past experiences, things that we are proud of and things that we regret. That is just part of life. The beauty of it all is that it doesn’t matter who we once were or the sins of our past. All that matters is that we have been made new in Him! He has given us a new life and so the person we once were no longer exists, we are a child of God! The hard part I’ll admit is that He not only forgives our past, He remembers it no more. We on the other hand will not have that luxury of forgetting, we will be our hardest hurdle to overcome. Take joy in the fact that whatever regrets you have are forgiven and forgotten by the One that truly matters. Stop torturing yourself when you have already been forgiven, and, since we cannot forget… then let’s look at our past as lessons learned. Lets us learn from our past to help the people that God has put before us!  What a way to truly worship God… by no longer torturing ourselves and truly embracing the forgiveness He gives!

You Are More by Tenth Avenue North

There’s a girl in the corner
With tear stains on her eyes
From the places she’s wandered
And the shame she can’t hide

She says, “How did I get here?
I’m not who I once was.
And I’m crippled by the fear
That I’ve fallen too far to love”

But don’t you know who you are,
What’s been done for you?
Yeah don’t you know who you are?

You are more than the choices that you’ve made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You’ve been remade.

Well she tries to believe it
That she’s been given new life
But she can’t shake the feeling
That it’s not true tonight

She knows all the answers
And she’s rehearsed all the lines
And so she’ll try to do better
But then she’s too weak to try

But don’t you know who you are?

Chorus

‘Cause this is not about what you’ve done,
But what’s been done for you.
This is not about where you’ve been,
But where your brokenness brings you to

This is not about what you feel,
But what He felt to forgive you,
And what He felt to make you loved.

I have heard this song several times. But, the first time I watched this video I was brought to tears and worshiped in a different way than when I had heard it on the radio. What a message it has. I love the second verse when it talks about not being able to see beyond my own doubt and His love rushes in. How true that is. When the world seems to be closing in, everything is going wrong, His love comes over us in a new way. The amazing thing is that it always comes in the way we need it most. He is always here with us not matter what. When He opens up our eyes we truly can see Him all around us in every part of our lives. What a blessing it is to be able to worship a God who can “light up the sky” when we need Him most!

Light Up The Sky by The Afters

When I’m feeling all alone and so far to go
The signs are nowhere on this road guiding me home
When the night is closing in
It’s falling on my skin
Oh God will You come close

Light, light, light up the sky
Light up the sky to show me You are with me
I, I, I can’t deny
Oh I can’t deny that You are right here with me
You’ve opened my eyes so I can see You all around me
Light, light, light up the sky
Light up the sky to show me You are with me

When stars are hiding in the clouds
I don’t feel them shining
When I can’t see beyond my doubt
The silver lining
When I’ve almost reached the end
Like a flood You’re rushing in
Love is rushing in

“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” Psalm 59:16 (NIV)

True Love by Phil Wickham

Come close listen to the story
about a love more faithful than the morning
The Father gave his only Son just to save us

The earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt the Fathers broken heart
tears were filling heaven’s eyes
The day that true love died, the day that true love died
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn’t move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that true love died, The day that true love died

I absolutely love this song! Every time I hear this song it brings me to tears. The very beginning when he says to “come close listen to the story” makes me realize what an amazing love story Christ has for us! God sent His only Son to die for us, how powerful a love He has for us! Our relationship with Him is truly a love story. Close your eyes and really listen to the lyrics of this song and what a worship experience it will be realizing the love story we have!

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NIV)

“My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.” Psalm 71:23 (NIV)
