Purpose: Having It All

October 26, 2011 — Leave a comment

We all want to be supermom. For some that might be staying home and for others it might be working out of the home. Either way we have lots to juggle to make sure that our day-to-day lives run smoothly. This video is of Christine Caine, founder and director of the A21 campaign, where she is talking about women wanting it all and how we do that successfully as Christian women.

The last couple of days have been a little busy, which is why I haven’t had the chance to make a new post. My husband works for Lifechurch.tv and it was the annual family reunion where all the staff and spouses come together to fellowship and worship God, it was great! So glad I was able to be there. If you have followed some of the latest posts a continuing theme that has started in my family is the calling God has placed on our lives to be debt free. This is an overwhelming and in a way scary thing because we really don’t know exactly how that looks for us. How He is going to make it happen. But, I know that it will. Between last weekend at church and then this week at the family reunion there are two key points that have been placed on my heart. The first is that God is in control no matter what! The second is that we dream to small! God can do far more than we could ever dream! Chase and I dream to be debt free, not only that but we dream to do this in five years. We have no idea how that will happen, but He does because His dreams are far bigger than ours! We sang this song last weekend at church after a long conversation Chase and I had about our finances. I could not get past the first verse before breaking into tears! It truly said what was on my heart. The first video is how the song was written and the second is the full song.

God I look to You by Jenn Johnson

God I look to You, I wont be overwhelmed
Give me vision to see things like You do
God I look to You, Youre where my help comes from
Give me wisdom; You know just what to do

I will love You Lord my strength
I will love You Lord my shield
I will love You Lord my rock forever
All my days I will love You God

Hallelujah our God reigns
Hallelujah our God reigns
Hallelujah our God reigns forever
All my days Hallelujah

Strength: Help From Above

This video is from Elevation Church. I looked up the passage the video was about and it was a great inspiration, especially when my family has all been passing around a nasty stomach bug. It talks about our help coming from the Lord. This can mean many things for different people. For my family it was just getting through the past couple of days… when your sick the world doesn’t stop. He gave us the strength we needed to get through the day and He helped us all get better and get through the nasty stomach bug!

Psalm 121 (NIV)

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;

8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10 (NIV)

“Your arm is endowed with power; your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.” Psalm 89:13 (NIV)

When you’re a mom you can’t take sick days. I have gotten sick one other time since Eli was born, however this is the first time that both Eli and I have been sick at the same time. Thankfully I think that we are on the tail end of it. I have managed to rest when he is sleeping which has helped me to get better faster. One thing is true of kids… they may be sick, but they still keep you busy. He has crawled through the house despite his cold that he has. I am just thankfully that we both did not have anything that would last longer than it has. I started praying for me to get better as soon as I started to feel a little off and then I started praying for Eli as soon as I noticed that he was coming down with it as well. Even having something as little as a cold can really throw you off and make you feel just yucky. But, the day has to continue despite the runny nose and cough. I found myself praying a lot the last few days. I was praying that God would keep my husband from getting the cold and for him to continue to heal Eli and I, not to mention the prayers for us both to be able to get the rest we need to be able to get better. God is always so faithful! Yesterday Eli took really good naps and last night he slept great, which allowed for me to sleep well too! I think that is why we are getting better so fast. The common cold may leave me feeling yucky, but my God is bigger than that cold!

Wounded Wrist

June 21, 2011 — Leave a comment

20110621-051414.jpgI found out today that my wrist is not sprained, yay! When I was at the chiropractor for my usual check up on my neck he looked at my wrist. Turns out the tendons are inflamed. He adjusted my wrist while I was there and I have to wear my brace during the day as well as ice it. I am really glad that it is not a sprain, hopefully that means that it will heal faster! If you are reading this blog then you probably know me well, which means that you probably know that I am a klutz. I can trip over my own feet, choke on my water and well you get the idea. So it is not surprising to know that I just woke up one day with a hurt wrist. Thankfully though the doctor said that I probably just slept on it wrong. Yay, being a klutz was not the issue! Anyway, I am so ready for my wrist to be healed and back to normal.
