Thankful: Spiced Latte

September 8, 2012 — 2 Comments

“Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:26 (NIV)

What a beautiful day it is today! Anyone who even knows me just a little knows that I do not like the hot. Summer is my least favorite time, I love the colder weather! Waking up today to the low temps and cool breeze was absolutely amazing! I am so incredibly ready for fall! I have my fall scentsy going (hazelnut latte to be exact) and am enjoying the glorious day that is foreshadowing the weather to come! So today I have been reminded to be thankful and since it’s the eighth of the month I am going to share eight things I am thankful for…

  1. Cooler weather
  2. Family time
  3. Pumpkin spiced lattes
  4. Caring doctors (refer to this post if you don’t know what I am talking about)
  5. Hand me down clothes
  6. A good board game
  7. Paperback books
  8. My sons contagious laughter

It has been a busy past few weeks. We have had family in town, my brother-in-law got married, and I started a new job. So it has been an exciting time for our family but definitely busy. Things are beginning to get to normal at our house and that is what brings me to this weeks Thankful Thursday…. I am thankful for family time!

The older Eli gets the more fun he is having with our family time. Just a few days ago we spent an evening on the back porch playing in the water. All we did was fill up a pot of water and he went to town splashing us, the dogs and himself. It was so fun seeing his excitement. Kids grow up fast, that is just the way that it is. The older the kids get the busier life seems to be, especially with school and sporting events. Right now we might think life is busy but I am sure that families who have older children will tell me that its only just beginning. One day we will have more on our schedules to work around when it comes to getting that quality family time. I just want to make sure that I treasure all of our time together, big or small…. outings to the zoo or simply watching a movie at home, every moment is a memory we are making! So I am taking today to remind myself how thankful I am for our precious family time!

Joy for Everyday

April 20, 2012 — Leave a comment

Everyday it seems like Eli is learning something new. Just yesterday he was imitating me as I pretended to knock on the door he did the same thing. Today he had a toy on the other side of the room and he would walk back and forth from the toy and the couch, he would pretend to pick up some food and then he would come over and pretend to feed me that food. When I responded with a “mmmmm!” He got a big smile on his face and I could see the excitement he had by my reaction. Every time that he does something good he hears me saying “good boy” and just this week he has started saying that as well. Seriously moms where does the time go? I mean before I know it my baby will be off to school! Which by the way I am so not ready for!

I think time seems to go by much faster as we are older, probably because we value it more as we see how much of a gift the lives God has given us truly are. I am just grateful that one of the many gifts that God has given me is my beautiful son who makes me laugh and smile and brings me joy everyday! What gift are you thankful for?

“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven-and the future starts now!” 1 Perter 1:3-4 (MSG)

It has been one busy week here so I have unfortunately not had much writing time as I am sure you can tell from my blog. But, that is life and sometimes we all just get a little busy. With all that said today’s post is going to be a Thankful Thursday. What is my one item for today’s thankful list? With this weekend being Easter it reminds me of so many things I am thankful for and that all of us have to be thankful for, for example the life that I have because of what Jesus did on the cross, the empty grave that he left when he rose and the fact that we serve a living God! Because Easter is this Sunday these things are on my mind, today I am thankful for reminders!

It is super easy in our day to day lives to not think about all that God has done for us. We get busy in the routine of the day and the week and yes we might talk through out the week with God and read His word but we may not take the time we need to really think about all He has done and praise Him for it. But… we get reminders sent our way to regroup our thoughts and Easter does just that. What are you thankful for this Easter?

Every parent knows when I say that the life of a toddler is busy. Once my son started walking he is constantly on the go exploring everything. I love it, but I won’t lie it is also exhausting and every mom will agree. As soon as his eyes open in the morning he is ready to start the fun-filled day, in fact there are many mornings when I go into his room and he has already begun his daily adventures by throwing his socks or his Grover out of the crib. There are even some mornings when I go in there and he starts to play peek-a-boo right away or the other times when I walk in and the first thing I hear is “more” (which for him that means he is ready for breakfast). The life of a toddler is never boring and that also means that the mommy of that toddler also has a life that is never boring. Every day is filled with new adventures and new and wonderful memories!

So with that said, today on my thankful Thursday I am thankful for those cuddle bug moments! Eli is so busy playing and having adventures that when he comes over to me and crawls up in my lap for hugs I will take every minute of that cuddle bug moment and soak it up. I love that time when he is curled up in my lap sucking his thumb and just holding me, it melts my heart and makes me thankful that little boys love their mommies! What are you thankful for this Thursday?
