Archives For God’s

With Mother’s Day tomorrow I think about my sweet little boy and the joy that he brings to our family. Mommy’s work is a constant… changing diapers, washing diapers (we use cloth), making meals, laundry, hugs when he needs it most, story time and the list could go on, but I wouldn’t change it for anything! Not every day is perfect, in fact some days it feels like nothing goes right and Eli woke up in a mood, but again it changes nothing. I love every minute of being a mommy. Right now at his young age he doesn’t realize what Mother’s Day is, and that is okay because I know that he loves me! So with all that said I want to give my little one a blessing for his future. I pray that in all my efforts, in every day mommy work I encourage and inspire him to be creative, be filled with passion, to seek God’s word daily and sprint towards God’s plans for his life.

With Mother’s Day approaching and everyone around us reflects on the work of moms what do you hope your children learn from your life? What blessing do you have for them?

I wish all the moms out there a Happy Mother’s Day!

Joy for Everyday

Everyday it seems like Eli is learning something new. Just yesterday he was imitating me as I pretended to knock on the door he did the same thing. Today he had a toy on the other side of the room and he would walk back and forth from the toy and the couch, he would pretend to pick up some food and then he would come over and pretend to feed me that food. When I responded with a “mmmmm!” He got a big smile on his face and I could see the excitement he had by my reaction. Every time that he does something good he hears me saying “good boy” and just this week he has started saying that as well. Seriously moms where does the time go? I mean before I know it my baby will be off to school! Which by the way I am so not ready for!

I think time seems to go by much faster as we are older, probably because we value it more as we see how much of a gift the lives God has given us truly are. I am just grateful that one of the many gifts that God has given me is my beautiful son who makes me laugh and smile and brings me joy everyday! What gift are you thankful for?

Don’t you just love when you are sitting in church listening to the preacher and then suddenly you feel like God says  ”hey, this point is for you.” Every time that happens it always comes in loud and clear and that is exactly how last Sunday was within the first five minutes! Have you ever been praying for something and your waiting for some big gesture to happen to confirm that its God speaking to you? Well Sunday this particular point was brought to my attention… over sensationalizing God’s presence. While God can do big gestures to speak to us He doesn’t only work this way, sometimes it is something so simple yet just as real and meaningful but speaking to us just the same.

Since this has been brought to my attention I have tried very hard to be intentional about being aware of those smaller moments where God is speaking to me. He is with me everyday, I can feel His presence in my life and I just have to take a moment to see all the little things He says/does throughout the day and those moments are just as important and significant as the times when He does something “big!”

“God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.” 1 Corinthians 12:6 (NLT)

Today was one of those days where nothing seemed to go my way. First off I have been waiting for a phone call from a doctor that I was referred to so that I can make an appointment, well they called and I got to make my appointment…. for four months from now. That’s right you read that correctly, FOUR months! That really frustrated me and it was at the beginning of my day. When I tried to see about getting put on a cancellation list in hopes of possibly having the chance of getting an appointment sooner they proceeded to tell me that they do not have one of those lists and to just call and check in with them. Lovely, I guess I get to just call daily and ask about any cancellations.

Then, while Eli was taking his nap I got on the computer to do some work and guess what… the software I needed to use wasn’t on the computer and I thought it was. It felt like the sarcastic little cherry on top of that frustrating ice cream sundae which felt like my day. My husband assured me that this evening he would be able to put the program onto the computer which is great, it just was not what I wanted to deal with at the moment.

While these two events were not the only part of my day they were still big issues that happened that really frustrated and discouraged me. I have to just remind myself that God is in control! No matter how frustrated I get or don’t understand, He sees the big picture and everything will work out according to His awesome plan! And for those that were wondering my day did eventually get better.

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4 (NIV)

Life can get busy. There is no doubt about that. But, no matter how busy it gets we can’t ever forget to be thankful for all the blessings in our lives. God is so faithful to pour His blessings on us each and every day and today I am reminded of that. We might have plans that we think would work perfectly and then they fall through, but never underestimate these moments! I am so thankful for God’s perfect timing. I can so easily be impatient waiting for His timing, but there is no denying that every time it comes it is absolutely and completely perfect! God’s blessings come at the right time reminding us that we are in His hands so we have an abundance of things to be thankful for! I know for myself that I have many things to be thankful for, my family, friends and so much more, but for today on this Thankful Thursday I am especially thankful for God’s perfect timing. What are you thankful for?
