Archives For His

“God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.” 1 Corinthians 12:6 (NLT)

Today was one of those days where nothing seemed to go my way. First off I have been waiting for a phone call from a doctor that I was referred to so that I can make an appointment, well they called and I got to make my appointment…. for four months from now. That’s right you read that correctly, FOUR months! That really frustrated me and it was at the beginning of my day. When I tried to see about getting put on a cancellation list in hopes of possibly having the chance of getting an appointment sooner they proceeded to tell me that they do not have one of those lists and to just call and check in with them. Lovely, I guess I get to just call daily and ask about any cancellations.

Then, while Eli was taking his nap I got on the computer to do some work and guess what… the software I needed to use wasn’t on the computer and I thought it was. It felt like the sarcastic little cherry on top of that frustrating ice cream sundae which felt like my day. My husband assured me that this evening he would be able to put the program onto the computer which is great, it just was not what I wanted to deal with at the moment.

While these two events were not the only part of my day they were still big issues that happened that really frustrated and discouraged me. I have to just remind myself that God is in control! No matter how frustrated I get or don’t understand, He sees the big picture and everything will work out according to His awesome plan! And for those that were wondering my day did eventually get better.

“God walks with us. He scoops us up in His arms or simply sits with us in silent strength until we cannot avoid the awesome recognition that yes, even now, He is there.” Gloria Gaither

Isn’t it funny how your child is sick, has certain symptoms but when you take them to the doctor they act fine! Friday we took Eli to the doctor. He had some congestion, a cough and battled a low fever on and off. What happens when we take him in? He is all smiles and doesn’t cough once… until we are putting him in his car seat! Why didn’t he just do one cough like that in the office? Well, needless to say he went back to the doctor today. As the weekend went on the cough has progressed and so has the snots. This time he actually coughed in the office…. wow! After two appointments, one where they finally got to hear the yucky cough we did not get any different of a diagnosis. He just caught a small virus and should be on the tail end of it and thankfully she said that all of his breathing looks and sounds good. Yay! Glad to hear that my little boy should be feeling better soon.

I don’t know about how things are around your place when one of your little ones isn’t feeling good. For us it has been a lot of naps, cuddling up on the couch and taking it easy. There is no question if Eli isn’t feeling well when he curls up on our laps and sits sucking his thumb content. Normally he is on the move, constantly playing, so that was for sure not his normal and we knew he wasn’t feeling himself. Both Chase and I agree though, we will take the cuddles when we can get them. Yesterday evening Eli cuddled up and took a nap in Chase’s arms. Simply precious! It really did melt my heart to look over and see father and son cuddling up. Sometimes when kiddos don’t feel so good all they want is mommy or daddy to hold them, it makes everything all better again. The same goes for God. Things are always better when He holds us. Doesn’t necessarily mean circumstances change, just like a baby who is sick isn’t automatically well just by being in a parents arms. Things don’t have to be magically fixed for us to just feel better, comforted. Living life in God’s hands is always better than living on our own!

Beautiful Worship

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

“I see Your face in every sunrise. The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes. The world awakens in the light of the day, I look up to the sky and say, You’re beautiful” Phil Wickham, You’re Beautiful

The beauty of God is all around us. We can easily worship Him just by seeing the beauty of what He has created. Continually being aware of God and all that He does is one way I try to make my worship something more than what I do only at church. There are plenty days though when I go about my day involved in my normal routine and sadly I do not take the minute to realize His presence or even the beauty of what He has created. Where I live it has been a long hot and dry summer with few rain showers far between the other. This week has been amazing! It has been in the 80s or lower all week. I absolutely love it! I find myself with the windows open, taking Eli out on the porch to swing and just simply taking in the beauty of this weather that God has blessed us with. I fell that this glimpse of the fall weather that is around the corner (which by the way is my absolute favorite season) has made me more aware of God’s beauty and presence in all He created. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like the heat and so I did not enjoy being outside much when it was as hot as it has been. I know that I must remind myself to find the beauty even on those hot summer days, it’s just easier to realize it on these cool days. Even though I may complain and forget when it is so hot out, God gives us these days as a reminder. Fall is not here yet. We will probably have a few more hot days before we officially reach fall. But, I am going to let this week stay fresh in my mind to remind me to find the beauty even on those hot days and worship God, the One that created it all!

“Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.” Psalm 66:2 (NIV)

It’s Friday and that means… worship songs! This song is an older one and the band isn’t even the same people anymore, but it doesn’t make it any less wonderful! I loved this song when it first came out and I still love it today. As God’s children, I am sure it is the most beautiful thing for Him to hear us join together worshiping Him! He is worthy of all our praise, He reigns!

He Reigns by Newsboys

It’s the song of the redeemed
Rising from the African plain
It’s the song of the forgiven
Drowning out the Amazon rain
The song of Asian believers
Filled with God’s holy fire
It’s every tribe, every tongue, every nation
A love song born of a grateful choir

It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns

Let it rise about the four winds
Caught up in the heavenly sound
Let praises echo from the towers of cathedrals
To the faithful gathered underground
Of all the songs sung from the dawn of creation
Some were meant to persist
Of all the bells rung from a thousand steeples
None rings truer than this

And all the powers of darkness
Tremble at what they’ve just heard
‘Cause all the powers of darkness
Can’t drown out a single word

When all God’s children sing out
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
All God’s people singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
