Archives For leave

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

The worship song I picked for today by Gungor is You Have Me and not only is the song absolutely beautiful but so is the meaning behind it. Life can be a bumpy road sometimes but God never leaves us, He is always there holding onto us. I love the chorus how it talks about God is always faithful and good, we can always count on Him!

You Have Me by Gungor

[verse:]
Out on the farthest edge
There in the silence you were there
My faith was torn to shreds
My heart out of balance
And you were there

[chorus:]
Always faithful
Always good
You still
Have me
You still have my heart

[verse:]
I thought I had seen the end everything broken
But you were there
I’ve wandered at Heaven’s gate
I’ve made my bed in Hell
But you were there still

[chorus]

You have me
You have me
You have my heart completely (6x)

“Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (MSG)

This is a great song with such a powerful message, not to mention the fact that it sounds beautiful! When our world is shaken one thing is true, we never leave His hands! God will never leave us. No matter what is going on in the world around us we can always hold on the truth that we are in His amazing hands!

Your Hands by JJ Heller
I have unanswered prayers
I have trouble I wish wasn’t there
And I have asked a thousand ways
That you would take my pain away
You would take my pain away

I am trying to understand
How to walk this weary land
Make straight the paths that crooked lie
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine
Oh Lord, before these feet of mine

When my world is shaking, heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave your hands

When you walked upon the earth
You healed the broken, lost and hurt
I know you hate to see me cry
One day you will set all things right
Yeah, one day you will set all things right

When my world is shaking, heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave your hands

Your hands that shaped the world
Are holding me
They hold me still
Your hands that shaped the world
Are holding me
They hold me still

When my world is shaking, heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave you
When my world is shaking, heaven stands
When my heart is breaking
I never leave
I never leave your hands

C.S. Lewis is a famous author. Many of us have heard of his works and have either read the books or seen the more recent movie versions of Chronicles of Narnia. The experiences in his life brought him wisdom that he was able to put into words to share with the world. The quotes that I have picked from C.S. Lewis are about our faith, the reality of it, the truth and the fact that God is always with us!

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”

“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”

“The great thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go God’s love for us does not.”

“Hardship often prepares an ordinary person for an extraordinary destiny.”

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV)

While I was pregnant there were several times that I would lay down to rest and sing “You Are My Sunshine” to my belly. I just felt like Eli would be able to hear me, after all that is what every pregnancy book tells you. After I had sung it to him several times it got to the point where I could feel him kicking when I would start singing. Now he is not far from being 8 months old and when he gets upset all I have to do is start singing that song and it calms him down! It is amazing how something that seemed so simple could make such a lasting impact on my child. All he needs is mommy to sing this song and everything is all better. I know that is how leaving a legacy starts, as something so simple yet has a lasting impact. Yesterday we bought Eli a new Bible that has fun and intricate drawings inside. He loves to look at! Every night we read him a Bible story. My hope in doing this is that he will love the Bible, treasure it and spend time in it every day, seeking what it says and not the world. I hope that this simple part of his bed time routine will make that lasting impact on his life and leave a legacy for truly loving God’s word. It all starts with a simple step and will lead to that lasting impact… the legacy you leave.

“But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—” Psalm 103:17 (NIV)

“All I am I owe to my mother.”  George Washington

What a simple quote this is, yet it makes me stop and think. Our jobs as a mom is never over, not only that, its one of the most important roles we will have. The parents a child has in their life will be what molds them into the adult they will become. So thinking about that makes me think about what kind of parent I want to be, how I want my children to turn out when they are grown. Am I living a life that sends the message of the legacy I wish to leave behind? The verse talks about fearing the Lord and His love and righteousness will be with not only our children but our grandchildren as well. I believe that this doesn’t mean necessarily to be afraid of God but to have respect for Him and honor Him, a reverent fear. So I ask myself… am I living in a way that honors, respects and shows a reverent fear for Him? Or, am I living a life that says the complete opposite? How I live my life will affect more than just me, it will affect all the generations to come in my family specifically, let alone other people I may never meet. If I want to teach my children the most important thing in life, loving God and putting Him first, then I must teach them by showing them! Think about it, do your children see you praying, reading the bible, worshipping and living a life willing to go where He says go? The most important gift I can give to my children is teaching them about God. The legacy that I want to leave to my children is one that is full of honoring God, loving Him, respecting Him and following His will, so now I must make sure that my life reflects the legacy I want to leave behind. What legacy do you want to leave behind?
