Archives For list

About a year ago I created The Original 30 before 30 list. Through the year I second guessed some of the items that I had on my list for one reason or another. I had put several items on about going green and I really wanted to focus less on the things that interested me at the time and more on goals, plans and things for the future. I also mentioned having two more kids. With my Lupus there is just no telling. God might give us two more children or He might decide that we are meant to only have the beautiful baby we already have. I am not putting a magic number on our family anymore, we will be given the family that we were meant to have!

I know some of you might be saying that once I finalized my list there is no changing it. That was how I felt at first. Then I decided that it’s my list, filled with things that I want to do… so I can make whatever changes to it that I want because it’s for me in the first place. I hope you enjoy my newly refurbished 30 before 30 list!

“Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” Psalm 136:26 (NIV)

What a beautiful day it is today! Anyone who even knows me just a little knows that I do not like the hot. Summer is my least favorite time, I love the colder weather! Waking up today to the low temps and cool breeze was absolutely amazing! I am so incredibly ready for fall! I have my fall scentsy going (hazelnut latte to be exact) and am enjoying the glorious day that is foreshadowing the weather to come! So today I have been reminded to be thankful and since it’s the eighth of the month I am going to share eight things I am thankful for…

  1. Cooler weather
  2. Family time
  3. Pumpkin spiced lattes
  4. Caring doctors (refer to this post if you don’t know what I am talking about)
  5. Hand me down clothes
  6. A good board game
  7. Paperback books
  8. My sons contagious laughter

3810870705_46a5db9f4d_nNumber 26… perfect homemade Pad Thai. This is item number 26 on my 30 before 30 list. Chase and I love Thai food, in fact we went out to lunch today to our favorite Thai restaurant. When I initially set out to make my list I was having no problems coming up with items to put on the list, but at the same time I was also wanting to make it things that I could actually do during the next four years. For instance, I would love to travel to several countries on my “gotta visit someday” list, but at the same time it’s not necessarily practical that we would be able to take several big vacations before I turn 30, I mean we do have bills to pay and all, not to mention item number 10 which is to be debt free which would mean we need to stay on a budget. So with that said I came up with some things on my list like item “perfect homemade Pad Thai” because it is not an easy thing to mark off yet still completely possible.

We have attempted homemade Pad Thai once. All in all it was decent… not bad, not great just merely decent…edible, if you will. The biggest problem was on my purchasing the wrong kind of noodles, apparently that makes a world of difference in how the dish turns out. We even bought a cookbook that had a bunch of different types of Pad Thai recipes, but I guess if you don’t have the right noodles nothing will matter. Oh well, at least I like to cook and it’s always fun to try new recipes, which apparently is what I will have to do if I ever want to cross this item off my list!

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4 (NIV)

Life can get busy. There is no doubt about that. But, no matter how busy it gets we can’t ever forget to be thankful for all the blessings in our lives. God is so faithful to pour His blessings on us each and every day and today I am reminded of that. We might have plans that we think would work perfectly and then they fall through, but never underestimate these moments! I am so thankful for God’s perfect timing. I can so easily be impatient waiting for His timing, but there is no denying that every time it comes it is absolutely and completely perfect! God’s blessings come at the right time reminding us that we are in His hands so we have an abundance of things to be thankful for! I know for myself that I have many things to be thankful for, my family, friends and so much more, but for today on this Thankful Thursday I am especially thankful for God’s perfect timing. What are you thankful for?

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

With this year coming to an end and the new year right around the corner a lot of people are thinking about new year resolutions. I myself don’t have any this year. The reason for that is a few months ago I made a 30 before 30 list and a lot of the things that are on there would have been things that I would have used as a new year’s resolution. Instead I will just continue to work on my list and cross things off one by one. The item on my list that comes to mind for a new year’s resolution is reading the Bible all the way through. I have heard many resolutions to spend more time in the Bible and more time with God daily. I agree with those resolutions, in fact those are great ones for every Christian to have each year. I have been finishing up a devotional plan from Youversion and come January 1st I plan to open up to Genesis and start my journey reading through the Bible. I don’t know how long it will take me, I don’t have a certain timeline in place for when I want to be done. I plan to just enjoy God’s word and see what He has to show me as I read His word all the way through. I look forward to my “resolution.” Do you have one?
