Archives For Thanksgiving

‘Tis the Season

November 29, 2013 — Leave a comment

Thanksgiving might be over, but why do we have to wait an entire year just to reflect on the things that we are thankful for? I know that I may not always remember, but I try every Thursday to post something I am thankful for, you might have seen me use #ThankfulThursday on occasion. I want to exhibit a spirit of gratitude all year-long instead of just waiting for the season to come around. So even though it’s the day after Thanksgiving, here are a few things that I am thankful.

Life can get busy. There is no doubt about that. But, no matter how busy it gets we can’t ever forget to be thankful for all the blessings in our lives. God is so faithful to pour His blessings on us each and every day and today I am reminded of that. We might have plans that we think would work perfectly and then they fall through, but never underestimate these moments! I am so thankful for God’s perfect timing. I can so easily be impatient waiting for His timing, but there is no denying that every time it comes it is absolutely and completely perfect! God’s blessings come at the right time reminding us that we are in His hands so we have an abundance of things to be thankful for! I know for myself that I have many things to be thankful for, my family, friends and so much more, but for today on this Thankful Thursday I am especially thankful for God’s perfect timing. What are you thankful for?

I can not believe that Christmas is Sunday! That got here so fast. Christmas time is where a lot of family traditions are carried out. For example, a big Christmas dinner, wrapping the gifts, making special Christmas shopping trips as a family and much more. What I didn’t realize was just how much some of our traditions impact the world around us. Think about all the special shopping trips we make instead of doing it at once, wasted food, and the trash from our gifts (packaging and gift wrap). It all adds up and it’s crazy just how much it increases just Thanksgiving to Christmas, 25% more waste! There is no need to stress or turn your back on any family traditions. If we all just make some simple adjustments then we can enjoy our family traditions each year without harming the environment. Check out my Green Holiday tips at Green Oklahoma.

With the past week filled with holiday festivities I haven’t had much time to post anything. Sorry for the silence. I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We enjoyed our holiday, it was filled with family, food and family game nights! We had family in for about a week and it was such a great visit! Once everyone went home Sunday we picked up the house and then… decorated for Christmas! I am sitting in my living room writing this post where I have a warm fire in the fireplace, stockings hung on the mantle and our Christmas tree to top off the scenery. I absolutely love this holiday season! I love winter and the fact that Christmas falls in winter makes it all the more better. While decorating our house I had Christmas music playing and of course I was singing along. I don’t know about you but those songs always brighten my day. I love finding new versions of old songs each season as well. Since I am in such a Christmas mood I decided that this music video from would be a good fit and it has a link to more music too!

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I decided to continue with the spirit of the holiday and share some of the things that I am thankful for! There are so many silly and serious things that I am thankful for, these were just a few that came to mind.

I am thankful for…

  • My relationship with God
  • My wonderful husband
  • My amazing son
  • My fun, silly, loving family
  • Friends I can count on
  • A home to call my own
  • A church I love
I am thankful for (my silly yet also true list)…
  • Not having to cook the turkey

  • My morning cup of coffee
  • Snow days
  • Breaking Dawn Part 1 (LOL)
  • Glasses are officially considered a fashion accessory (I have to wear mine anyway so it’s a bonus that it makes me fashionable!)
